As a film buff, though, I found it to be relentlessly safe. Notice the words you use in your own review: cliched, simple, sweet. It all adds up to a film that "does not reach very high peaks." Again, I got into it and had a ball watching it because there are so many call-backs to franchise staples, Snoopy's sublot included.
