Welcome back to Thursday Movie Picks, the weekly series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves where you share three movies to fit the theme of the week each Thursday.
It's fashion week. And let me start by saying that I couldn't care less about the fashion world. I just find the whole thing ridiculously stupid. Not to mention how ugly most of the clothes models wear on the catwalk are. I wouldn't wear those things if you paid me. What I'm trying to say is that I haven't seen many films about this topic, so please don't judge me :)
The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
After graduating, Andy, a smart but sensible young woman, finds a job as assistant to Miranda Priestly, a demanding fashion editor. I've seen this film only once, I was young and I thought it was quite boring. I loved Meryl Streep's performance though. And I wanted Andy to end up with Simon Baker's character.Zoolander (2001)
Derek Zoolander is a male supermodel who is brainwashed to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia. This is probably one of the dumbest films I've ever seen, but it's so hilarious I didn't even care about it. And how could I not like this? After all it makes fun of the fashion industry.
I also went with The Devil Wears Prada and I like Zoolander. I never bothered with Confessions, that didn't look interesting to me, despite liking Isla Fisher.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I only watched it because I had a crush on Dancy at the time.
DeleteI have seen all 3-Prada is better than I thought it would be. Zoolander is beyond stupid but funny. The last one was meh...I see these people almost every day in my office.
ReplyDeleteI really need to rewatch The Devil Wears Prada.
DeleteI'm with you, haha. If I ever catch a glipse of a catwalk on TV I just "What the hell are they wearing?"
ReplyDeleteI've only seen Zoolander from this list...very funny. Sequel was dreadful though.
Omg don't even get me started on the sequel. It was absolute rubbish.
DeleteInteresting picks! The Devil Wears a Prada is my favourite and I've seen the other two as well. And though the Confessions of a Shopaholic was promising but like you said, it's not a movie to love. :D
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to love The Devil Wears Prada. I guess I'll have to rewatch it.
DeleteI think Shopaholic is a guilty pleasure of mine. I always seem to watch the whole thing when it was Film4 all time and I have watched it on Netflix when I wanted an easy watch.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay, there's always a not so good movie each of us love. Mine is Miss Congeniality 2.
DeleteI think I've only seen parts of CoaS...the whole shopaholic plot just doesn't appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteMe neither. I'm kind of a minimalist.
