Although it's Fanny and Alexander the film I've been meaning to watch the most, I thought I'd start my journey into the world of Ingmar Bergman with the Blind Spot Series with one of the Swedish filmmaker's first films, The Seventh Seal (Det sjunde inseglet), a film I've heard nothing but great things about over the years. Needless to say, the film turned out to be a huge disappointment as I found it to be a pretentious and tedious film. Or maybe I'm just not smart enough to get it.
Thursday Movie Picks: Television Edition: Competitive Reality Shows
A weekly series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves |
I'm one of those people who think reality shows are dumb, hence don't watch them, and judge whoever watches them. But the truth is that I too am guilty of watching such shows. Sure, I might not die of excitement waiting for the week's episode of Big Brother, or The Bachelor, or whatever, but I do love me some cooking reality shows. So yeah, that's what I'm going to pick for this week's Thursday Movie Picks.
Thursday Movie Picks: Great Final Films of an Actor
A weekly series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves |
Well, I guess it was only a matter of time before getting a challenging theme for the Thursday Movie Picks series and this week's is the challenge I've been dreading. The thing is that I haven't seen a lot of final films and those I've seen, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner being the only exception, are far from being great. The reason why today I'm going with three final films of actors I'm yet to see but that are on my watchlist as I've heard nothing but great things about them.
Thursday Movie Picks: Girls Trip
A weekly series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves |
Blowing my nose like there's no tomorrow because of hay fever, with my lower back and left boob hurting like crazy (I'm not pregnant and I wasn't slapped in the boob by Olive Penderghast so why is this happening?!), and drinking a cup of vanilla cake flavoured black tea I can't even taste nor smell, there's nothing I'd like more than a girls trip... but since it's not happening, thank you COVID19, I'll have to settle for movies about girls trip, which is this week's Thursday Movie Picks theme. So without further wasting your time, I leave you with my picks.
Thursday Movie Picks: Deadly Sins Edition: Envy
A weekly series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves |
As it's been for the past three months, the month of May too opens with a deadly sins-themed Thursday Movie Picks, envy, a feeling that is probably familiar to all of us as I'm sure at some point in our lives we've been envious of someone, probably for the silliest of reasons too.
Look Who's Back (2015)
A while ago, a friend of my mother's suggested me an Italian film, I'm Back (Sono tornato), as she thought I'd enjoy it. So I did what I always do, I googled the film but only to find out that its interesting concept wasn't even original as the film is a remake of a German film, Look Who's Back (Er ist wieder da). A film I finally watched and absolutely adored as it is a brilliant and hilarious dark comedy with a towering performance by Oliver Masucci.
Monthly Recap: April 2020
Oh hey, it's May! Another beautiful month of (semi) quarantine, and another month for me to live my best life by sleeping almost till 7, wearing leggings all the time and not dealing with people as bars aren't allowed to re-open before June 1st. Seriously though, I'm kind of enjoying the quarantine life as I have time to experiment in the kitchen — look at this pizza and my 2020 collection on Instagram —, to workout properly, to learn new things such as German and doodling as well as things about myself I wasn't fully aware of, and, of course, to watch films and catch up on TV series.
