Can you believe than a month from now will be 2020? Neither can I. Damn this year flew by. And yes, I'm rambling because I have no idea how to fill this monthly recap because there's really nothing to tell.
Life-wise, I still love my job although there's always the occasional asshole here and there that tries to ruin my day — if there weren't cameras I swear I would have spit into an old douchebag's coffee. Like your caffè corretto now, asshole? — and there's nothing new on a romantic level, mainly because there is no Bobby Cannavale nor Jake Hoffman here — just in case you don't follow me on Twitter or you missed it, I now have a crush on both because of The Irishman.
Movie-wise, "I sucked" doesn't even come close to cover what I've watched. Or rather what I have not watched. I watched only seven movies, two being rewatches, and I don't even have an excuse. Yes, I did continue my Orange Is the New Black rewatch but I barely progressed with that so yeah, November was a very unprolific month. I did join Dell's Girl Week blogathon though. That I did.
PS I just came up with the excuse. I bought a new phone and I'm literally obsessed with it. And how could I not? My new babe takes gorgeous selfies and breathtaking photos.
And now the reviews.
Coco (2017) - Review | Rewatch
The more I watch this film, the more I love it. And the more I cry.
The King (2019)
Plot: Hal (Timothée Chalamet), wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne, has turned his back on royal life and is living among the people. But when his tyrannical father dies, Hal is crowned King Henry V and is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape. Now the young king must navigate the palace politics, chaos and war his father left behind, and the emotional strings of his past life - including his relationship with his closest friend and mentor, the aging alcoholic knight, John Falstaff (Joel Edgerton).
Yes, I copied the plot from Netflix because I completely forgot watching this film — Letterboxd saved me —, let alone remembering the plot. What I do remember is how atrocious the film was. It is tremendously boring and unengaging, the dialogue is horrendous and Timmotheé Chalamet is insufferable as always. The only good note? Robert Pattinson's performance as the French king as he makes the film slightly entertaining and nails that French accent. Can you please give us back the good old David Michôd, Netflix?

The Shining (1980) - Review | Rewatch
I don't usually rewatch films unless I really love them, but since I was seeing Doctor Sleep that night I decided to rewatch Kubrick's film. Disappointment doesn't even come close to cover how I felt. Sure, it's a pretty good horror film with some tense moments and a downright terrific performance from Shelley Duvall but it felt like there was something missing.Doctor Sleep (2019) - Review
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Plot: Two years after Andy donated his toys to Bonnie, Woody and the other toys are happy with their new life, although Woody has been neglected as Bonnie always picks other toys to play with. On her first day of kindergarten, Bonnie makes a new friend, literally, a toy-spork she names Forky. As Woody tries to keep the trash-oriented toy safe, he finds himself into an adventure in which he meets old friends. It comes without saying that this is an unnecessary sequel as Toy Story 3 was a fantastic film and provided a great closing to the series, and they should have not made it. I'm not saying the film is bad — it is in fact pretty good — but it's just not as good as the other films of the franchise. It doesn't really cover any new ground and while it still is a fun and throughout entertaining film, it just is unneeded and doesn't hold up to Pixar's standards on a content level.
I'm reading for 2019 to fuck off personally lol
ReplyDeleteCoco is such a wonderful film, now I want to watch it again.
I’m going to miss 2019 if I have to be completely honest. By far the best year of my adult life
DeleteI feel for you with being rubbish in November, so was I! I promised myself I would watch The Shining before seeing Doctor Sleep. It was even on my Blind Spot list but I still didn't. And then I ended up missing Doctor Sleep too. Agh!
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you can still see The Shining first haha
