Thursday Movie Picks: Television Edition: Prequels

A weekly series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves

With prequels becoming more and more popular on the small screen, it was only a matter of time before we talked about them in a Thursday Movie Picks. And here we are and since there are so many bad things happening at the moment I'm going with three great series.

Better Call Saul (2015- )

A prequel to the terrific Breaking Bad, it follows Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) before he became Saul Goodman. It's a really great show and the actors are terrific.

Hannibal (2013-2015)

A prequel to Hannibal Lecter series, it explores the relationship between Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and one of his patients, FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). It's easily one of the greatest shows ever made.

Young Sheldon (2017- )

A prequel to The Big Bang Theory, it follows child genius Sheldon Cooper (Ian Armitage). I still haven't seen the new season because I suck but I really like the series. It's not as good as the original but it's quite funny.

  1. I couldn't watch Young Sheldon since I felt that it wasn't necessary to have a series focusing on Sheldon's childhood, but that's just me. I really need to watch the Breaking Bad though!

    1. I'm a huge fan of Sheldon so I was very happy when the series was announced and I'm glad it turned out fine.

  2. I can't stand Sheldon and when I see the Young Sheldon in trailers, I want to slap him. I never watched Breaking Bad because it's just too dismal for me even though I heard it is brilliant. Better Call Saul is well liked but just not into it. Although I like the Silence of The lambs and the sequels(prequel), I just don't feel the want in seeing this show.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear you don’t like Sheldon. I can’t always relate to him but he’s definitely one of my favourite TV characters.

  3. I haven't seen any of this because I haven't really seen the original Movies or TV shows.
