Opinion

I'm not a fan of rom-coms but I've seen a good share of those movies and "Along Came Polly" is just another stupid and not-so-funny romantic comedy.

John Hamburg had quite a stroke of genius when he wrote "Zoolander", but that genius wasn't no longer in him three years later when he wrote this crap. The plot is paper thin and takes every single predictable turn one could imagine. It is filled with clichés and it's the kind of story that has been abused so much those still using it should be punished by law.

The whole affair between Reuben and Polly completely lacks passion, heat, anything really that would make you root for their love to triumph. Also the characters are very unlikable. No wonder Lisa cheating on Reuben with the scuba instructor, he is the only slightly likable character in the film.

But there's worst, the film completely lacks comedy. The film is beyond boring, the jokes are stupid and fall flat most of the time. The gags are always the same. By the way, how many fart jokes are required to be considered gross? I'm sure this film falls into the category.

At last but not least there's the cast. Ben Stiller is usually good with comedy but there's nothing he can do to save a script that seems like a bad episode of "Friends". Speaking of which, Jennifer Aniston gives yet another of her wooden performances, sleepwalking through the film. And I'm not even sure what was Philip Seymour Hoffman doing in here.

    1. I was about to comment the exact same thing! I had a need to watch anything with Jennifer Aniston in. Part of me never wants to re-watch it in case I realise how terrible it actually is :P

    2. For me it was Sandra Bullock. I'm kinda afraid to rewatch some of those movies because I'm sure I'll realise they're actually terrible movies.

    1. Grazie mille! Io non riesco a scrivere un post al giorno (e ti ammiro tantissimo per questo) ma se abbiamo qualche film in comune con cui condividere opinioni lo faccio davvero volentieri!
